Leadership still asks what the numbers mean
Information is available, but the decision, implication, and next action are not clear.
LegalOpsKPIs helps legal departments improve reporting, operating models, processes, technology, and data so leaders can make better decisions and teams can execute more consistently. We work with clients to clarify priorities, simplify how information moves, and build practical systems that support measurable improvement.
Most legal departments already have reports, systems, and data. The challenge is getting them to work together. Definitions vary, ownership is unclear, manual steps persist, and leadership still struggles to see what requires attention.
More reporting creates more noise. The work is to decide what matters, make the data trustworthy, and connect it to action.
Information is available, but the decision, implication, and next action are not clear.
The business wants insight into value, risk, speed, cost, and service, not a longer activity list.
Accruals, invoices, budgets, and forecasts take weeks to align because definitions and sources differ.
Measures accumulated without a clear connection to a business priority or management question.
Adoption, workflow fit, data quality, or user behavior is limiting the return on the investment.
One or two people rebuild the same analysis each month and carry critical process knowledge in their heads.
The legal function wants to operate strategically but has no common performance language.
Requests arrive through different channels, priorities keep shifting, and the team lacks a reliable view of volume, backlog, capacity, and where resources should be allocated.
Every engagement is scoped to the problem at hand. The work usually follows four stages, with the depth of each stage adjusted to the team's needs.
Clarify the decisions leadership needs to make, inventory current reports, and assess the reality of the data, process, technology, and ownership model.
Prioritize the KPI framework, reporting architecture, definitions, audiences, narrative, and governance required to answer those decisions.
Improve source data and workflows, configure or prototype reporting, and coordinate the right internal, InfiniGlobe, or client-approved technical resources.
Train owners, establish review and governance routines, track adoption, and refine the approach as priorities and maturity evolve.
Mori leads the performance strategy, stakeholder alignment, KPI framework, and executive-reporting work. Depending on scope, LegalOpsKPIs and InfiniGlobe team members may support research, workshop design, project coordination, analytics, process improvement, technology configuration, integration, and adoption. The proposed team, responsibilities, and contracting entity are identified before work begins.
Each engagement is scoped around the decisions and operating problems that matter most. The work can focus on one area or connect several areas when the issues are interdependent.
Outside counsel spend, accruals, budgets, forecast accuracy, matter economics, rates, fee arrangements, and the working relationship with Finance.
Demand, intake, cycle time, capacity, backlog, service levels, matter mix, insourcing, and resource allocation.
Measures that help leadership understand exposure, responsiveness, prevention, business impact, and the trade-offs behind legal decisions.
Adoption, process impact, time saved, quality, risk controls, user behavior, cost, and whether tools are improving the work that matters.
Panel performance, invoice quality, budget adherence, timeliness, outcomes, diversity, relationship health, and value beyond rates.
Board-ready or leadership-ready views that connect legal performance to business priorities rather than simply displaying activity.
NetApp Legal needed more reliable access to budgeting and spend information, with less manual work. In a published InfiniGlobe engagement, the team redesigned budgeting, spend reporting, e-billing, and access to management information.
Published results included a 67% reduction in reporting resources, invoice approval time reduced from 65 days to 21 days, and more than 50% less manual effort in e-billing.
The process moved from three FTEs working in parallel to one FTE, with recurring reports generated consistently and ad hoc information available more quickly.
Approval time improved from 65 days to 21 days, alongside a reduction of more than 50% in e-billing manual effort.

“What a privilege to find an expert like Mori Kabiri, who has been able to compile such extensive knowledge, direct it specifically to the legal industry, and present it in a simple way in his book "Operaciones Legales KPIs: El manual del profesional jurídico para la excelencia operativa", in whose translation and editing I had the honor of contributing. With the support of the excellent companion website behind it, https://legalopskpis.com/ not only allows me to rediscover this fascinating topic, but also presents an invaluable resource with more elements to apply. I am sure these tools will be of great value to any legal professional, legal department, or law firm that wishes to take its practice to higher levels of efficiency.”
“The event brought an important reflection: the strategic transformation of legal departments, which must move away from being reactive cost centers to becoming proactive business partners. The parallel drawn with areas such as Finance and IT, which have already gone through this process and are now essential to strategic planning, made the path ahead clear. The central point was the use of data, analytics, and KPIs as key tools for this evolution. The presentation moved from a conceptual overview to a practical guide, showing methodologies to identify, define, and monitor metrics that truly add business value. In the end, the message was clear: what is not measured is not managed, and transforming data into strategy is the path to more efficient management, inside and outside the legal function.”
“Wow! This KPIs workshop was one of the most informative sessions I’ve ever attended.”
“Mori Kabiri’s ideas reinforce the importance of transforming data into strategy for management, not just legal management. After all, as he highlights: "what is not measured is not managed.”
“By leveraging data and KPIs, legal teams can not only mitigate risks but also uncover opportunities that help companies explore how the legal function can evolve from a reactive role to a true enabler of business success.”
“In my curiosity to continue developing myself in #LegalOps topics, I came across a book that is providing me with key concepts and methodical steps to optimize the management of Legal Operations, allowing Legal Departments to move from being a "cost center" to a value-generating center that delivers legal data to companies. I am grateful to Mori Kabiri for translating his book into Spanish and sharing his knowledge. From an innovative and practical perspective, it is reshaping the way I view legal management through data, metrics, and results, demonstrating that lawyers can also be proactive and make data-driven decisions. For anyone who wants to transform their area, legal department, or law firm, this is an essential reference book to start or complement their digital transformation journey.”
“Professor Mori Kabiri’s "Legal Operations KPI" book brings an innovative approach to legal departments, an area we know lacks consistent information on metrics. Mori brings a true toolbox of KPIs focused on legal operations, helping teams turn data into strategic decisions.”
“A unique event with the fantastic Mori Kabiri, who further empowered our team to face contemporary challenges of a legal department aligned with the organization’s business, through the mapping, building, monitoring, and measurement of a solid KPI system.”
“Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a lecture by Prof. Mori Kabiri promoted by Jurídico Sem Gravata, where he highlighted that KPIs are essential tools for transforming data into sound decisions. According to Kabiri, these indicators allow the identification of bottlenecks, process optimization, and alignment of legal work with the organization’s financial and strategic objectives.”
“It was a unique opportunity to discuss how to measure and optimize the value we deliver as in-house lawyers within our companies, a key topic in an increasingly demanding business environment. How important it is to keep learning continuously, as well as to build and nurture networks that push us to be better professionals and people...”
“With Mori Kabiri’s expertise on the topic, we concluded that Legal and Compliance activities are indeed measurable through indicators that translate into cost reduction, increased efficiency in contract management, and therefore business impact and cost savings.”
“This book should be in the hands of every legal person in-house and aspiring legal person. Mori has given us a gift that is both thought provoking and practical in its application - Excellent work product!”
“I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and discuss current challenges for KPI adoption at the Jurídico Sem Gravata meeting, with an excellent presentation by Prof. Mori Kabiri.”
“Legal Operations KPIs book is laid out so simply, and it's very clear. It gives you some relevance. It's history to why we track these, why they're important. If you can't afford to bring all these resources in to do these programs, start here.”
“My pleasure, Mori, it was great meeting you and learn more about KPIs, a subject that is very important and often a complex challenge for legal functions”
“I am really enjoying reading the book Legal Operations KPIs by Mori Kabiri; the experience has been incredible. The work brilliantly balances practicality with theoretical depth, offering concrete tools for those who want to implement effective performance evaluations in the legal field. What has caught my attention the most so far is how the book structures applicable methodologies without falling into excessive academicism. It’s the kind of reading that not only expands strategic vision, but also provides actionable insights for the continuous improvement of legal processes. As an enthusiast, performance metrics practitioner, and professor on the subject, I can already see from this reading that the book has everything it takes to be a revolution in the definition, selection, and application of performance metrics!”
“It was an incredible experience, not only because we talked about best practices, KPIs, and different tools, but also because we allowed ourselves to connect beyond work: we talked about children, fur-children, and many other interests that connect us as people.”
“I'm jumping on the bandwagon of those who already recommended the book—and that just confirms it’s definitely worth reading. You can find a lot of content about KPIs and OKRs in general, and there’s plenty of talk about how Legal Operations provides value to an organization. But I’ve never seen such a precise analysis and listing of metrics that are specifically suited to provide evidence of that value through reliable data. I’m glad I read it before tackling some KPI-related topics this year—and I’ll certainly recommend it to the team.”
“The lecture was truly amazing, it was such an honor to listen and learn from you on such a relevant and transformative topic. The content was extremely rich and inspiring, bringing valuable insights for those working in the legal field.”
“Legal Operations KPIs points to one of the most important challenges in my day-to-day work: understanding the efficiency and quality of our service and how we can demonstrate the value we deliver, especially through KPIs. KPIs in the legal space are often a challenge, balancing the objective with the subjective. This book offers not only practical tools to understand, calculate, and apply these indicators, but is also useful for both beginners and experts in the field.”
“This book (in English or Spanish) is a great reference resource that helps explain what a metric is, what an indicator is, the different types of indicators, and how to visualize data for legal management. The book also provides different examples of indicators related to spend, budget, management, diversity, data quality, legal compliance, and risk management; and as if that weren’t enough, it also includes an entire chapter on best practices with a diagnostic tool for legal data analytics. In any organization, having the right indicators is crucial to properly guide work, innovation, technology implementation, and process improvement. This book will save hours of research by presenting a wide variety of indicators and helping teams decide which ones are right for them. This book is a major contribution to Spanish-language literature on legal operations, informed by years of industry experience, and will help accelerate knowledge for legal management teams across Spanish-speaking countries.”
“It is very cool to see this movement to transform the Legal Department into a strategic partner of the business. The discussion about KPIs is essential to give clarity, focus and relevance to the area's deliveries. Congratulations on the meeting and the work to strengthen this much-needed agenda!”
“The author demonstrates such a deep understanding of the subject matter and understand KPI's so fundamentally that his work here can easily be adopted and adapted outside legal operations. I highly recommend reading this well written book to get insight as to what good KPI's are, how the affect decision making and how to fine tune them to get a lot of performance improvement, by making decisions that fully incorporate KPI's as presented here. Anyone dealing with KPI might want to have a copy of this book on their desk. This is a book which is written incredibly complete but also accessible to those with less of a background who are willing to put in an effort and understand the book.' Great job”
“It was a very nice experience to follow along, even virtually. The shared knowledge is extremely valuable for our journey and strengthens the strategic role of the legal function. Congratulations to everyone involved for the organization and the high-level content!”
“Resources are important when you're trying to learn, and books like "Legal Operations KPIs", are important to look and, navigate and understand and how you take that truth from that book and make it your own in your organization.”
“Stayed in and read Mori Kabiri's excellent book [Legal Operations KPIs]! As you can see from the flags, we will be implementing many of these metrics.”
“Legal Operations KPIs provide clear and realistic indicators aligned with the organization’s strategy, which are powerful tools to transform data into decisions. I especially liked the point about focus and relevance: measuring less, but measuring what truly matters.”
The framework brings clear definitions, formulas, limitations, maturity guidance, and practical context into one reference.
